Why RS Is the Only VANTA Without a Hybrid System
It would have been straightforward to give RS a hybrid front axle, matching the rest of the range. We chose not to.
RS exists to answer a different question than R1, GT, or X: what is the lightest, most mechanically direct car VANTA is capable of building, using everything we've learned from the rest of the range?
Mass is the enemy
A hybrid front axle adds capability, but it also adds mass — motor, inverter, wiring, cooling. On R1 and X, that trade is worth making. On RS, where the entire design brief is built around minimizing mass, it isn't.
The result is a car 300kg lighter than R1, with a mechanical limited-slip differential instead of electronic torque vectoring, and a fixed rather than active aero package. Every one of those decisions removes complexity in exchange for weight and directness.
